I always leave my long range hunting rigs dirty so I know where the cold bore shot is going to go. I was wandering if it will be ok to fire a shot of Blackhorn 209, just before entering the backcountry for up to 10 days, and not clean it? Does anyone. LOOK OUT THIS IS A LONG RANT! Besides the obvious fact that it doesn't ruin your gun long term, this allows you to sight your gun in just prior to the season without cleaning it until a week long season is over.

Blackhorn 209 in my (limited) experience is closer to smokeless powder in this attribute and likes a tighter fit from the friends that use it. Im not saying bullet fit is the issue (more likely bore butter or damp powder hunting in rain) but if the bullet moved halfway down the bore from a primer or two it indicates to me a loose fit and with. If the rifle and breech plug is designed to use BH209, the proper fitting bullet or sabot/bullet combination is used, the bullet seated tightly against the propellant and a magnum 209 primer, the rifle WILL go off properly.
